Abstracted Deer
This piece catches the moment of fright! The moment the deer took flight, running from danger. In a state of panic and confusion, the deers limbs disconnected, reconnected to another. It works with ideas around one response to fear, within ourselves. Running from danger is an innate first response. I find it interesting to look at objectively as a burst of undirected energy.

Leap Frog
Abstracted Frog
This work is part of ‘Celebration‘ which was made for the 2016/17 Sculpture in the Gardens Exhibition, Auckland Botanic Gardens.
I made these works primarily to foster good relationships between children and public art, to be able to access it in positive healthy ways. The work was set into locally sourced volcanic rock, and attached low to the ground at children’s height and to child-friendly scale.

Nuts About You
Prairie Dog
Originally half of a work called ‘Identity and Perception‘, this is about the way we see ourselves, self judgements, misperceptions, self deception …and all that jazz.
I then separated it from its other half and reinterpreted it as a play on words; perhaps a homage to love, perhaps just a homage to loving food! Also I love Prairie dogs.

Deer
This piece catches the moment of fright! The moment the deer takes flight, running from danger.
In a state of panic and confusion, the deers limbs disconnected, reconnected to another; flail about awkwardly as if limbs and thoughts are in contradiction to one another. It works with ideas around ones response to fear, within ourselves. Running from danger is an innate first response. I find it interesting to look at objectively as a burst of undirected energy.
